Chicana

Boxer - Baby - Female
Adoptable Medium Up-to-date with routine shotshousetrained

Chicana arrived 24 hours ago, but has already acclimated to her foster home with multiple dogs and cats. She has a naturally “docked” tail which can be seen in her picture.

Her birthdate is in Oct. 2018 and right now she weighs under 20 lb. She loves to snuggle 🙂 The surrendering owner said that mom and dad are boxer / lab mixes and weigh 50 – 55 lb.

Chicana is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule. She’s leash and crate-trained. When things are new, she barks to express her displeasure. She has already attached herself to her foster mom and will bark if she can’t get to her. Once she’s out of sight, her foster dad says she lays down and waits quietly.

She would do well for a household that likes to get out in public and take their dog with them. Hikes or visits to pet-friendly businesses would be excellent. The more she’s exposed to new sights, sounds, smells, and strangers, the less she’ll worry that unfamiliar things are worrisome, which will allow her to be curious rather than concerned.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we frequently have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. We suggest first time pet owners look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our local low-cost spay/neuter clinic (overnight stay required) and surgery occurs as agreed upon in the adoption contract. Convenience fee may be added if using our veterinarian. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
